Medical School Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, MD, 2012 Joseph Collins Scholarship Recipient Undergraduate Grove City College (Grove City, PA), BS, 2008 About Me I'm a married father-of-3. I owned a photography business with my wife (blog.ex-ps.com) through medical school until I had to quit when residency stole my weekends. Now I just keep all that equipment around to take pictures of my kids. Before medical school, I played a whole lot of competitive golf. Family takes up most of my time any more, but I'll be looking for a new board game or an old book in my spare time. I'm interested in a career in hospital medicine and informatics in the future. Why I Chose Peoria I liked the family-friendly atmosphere, the supportive hospital system, and the high recommendation from medical students who graduated from UICOMP and residents who came to med/peds from SIU where I did medical school. Doesn't hurt that I was born and raised in Peoria either. |

I knew I'd be around my now friends for the better part of four years and I wanted a group of individuals that I could see myself being a part of not just working with. Another large draw for me was the Children's Hospital as it set in a community setting. There is an amazing amount of variety and acuity in the pediatric cases we see that I knew I wanted for my future career. |
