About Me
When I am not at work, I enjoy listening to music and playing guitar. I love live music especially, and love finding new bands. I play board games, extra nerdy ones, and have too much emotionally invested in the Chicago Cubs. My wife and I have 4 kids, Lucy, Emma, Jane and Jude, a labradoodle named Auggie, and not a lot of free time. My career interests include resident and medical student education, MedPeds Hospital Medicine research, and the gradual takeover of the world by MedPeds physicians.
Why I Chose Peoria
My wife and I are from Central Illinois, and the hospital and medical school here are home for us. The MedPeds environment and the numerous MedPeds physicians in Peoria is what led us to a career in MedPeds, and we are grateful for the opportunity to practice around so many other excellent MedPeds doctors. Also, Peoria and the surrounding area is an easy place to work and live, easy place to raise a family, and fits our lifestyle well.

About Me
In my spare time, I love to play tennis and woodworking.  With my family, I explore the national parks in my RV.
Why I Chose Peoria
I actually couples-matched here with my wife (also MedPeds!).  Peoria was and is a great place to learn and live.  It also is very family friendly -- we had two children during residency.

Med Peds Office Leadership

Jo Zuk

Position
Program Coordinator, Combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency

Responsibilities

My main role as Program Coordinator is to support the needs of the Program Director, faculty, and residents to ensure that the MedPeds office runs efficiently and effectively. I assist with maintaining records, processing reimbursements, scheduling, communication within the program as well as with the University and OSF, and event planning. A combined residency program can be complex, so I will always be available to listen to any needs or concerns as we work towards our common goal of preparing excellent and confident physicians.
About Me
I am excited to return to the University of Illinois in an administrative capacity after graduating with a Bachelor's of Liberal Arts and Sciences from the Urbana-Champaign campus in 2012. Originally from Denver, my family moved to Peoria when my father took a position as a physician at the Illinois Neurological Institute. Despite my educational focus being in Japanese language and culture, I am quite familiar with both the OSF environment and University of Illinois system having "grown up" with them. In addition to speaking fluent Japanese, I also spent twelve years of my academic career studying French. I spent a couple of my college years living in Tokyo as well. Outside of work, my hobbies include performing in local community theatre productions, obsessing over all things Disney (Disneyland is my favorite place on the planet!), travelling, hiking , and following my favorite musical artists around like the ultimate fan girl. Part time, I portray princesses for birthday parties and local events, which I love because I get to make people smile. Overall, I am an extremely outgoing person who enjoys meeting new people and exploring new places. I look forward to working with you!

About Me
I am a Peoria native having grown up here and attended Bradley University where I received a degree in Business Marketing.  I spent a little over a decade staying home with my 5 children and currently working my way back into the workforce full time with this position.  I enjoy spending time with my family and their activities which is a lot of soccer, dance and cheer.  I also enjoy running, cooking, and listening to music.  And definitely try to get out to enjoy any live music with my husband.

About Me
I enjoy painting and reading in my spare time.
Why I Chose Peoria
After seeing the extensive pathology that one sees in Peoria from bread and butter Pediatrics to the rare cases and all the zebras in between, I am very fortunate that I trained in Peoria. The collegial atmosphere, the camaraderie amongst residents and faculty were amongst many reasons for me to continue to be part of this residency family and also raise my own family here.

About Me
Outside of work I enjoy being the mom of a very active toddler (Vivian).  We have a lot of fun as a family exploring all the local activities including the zoo, Children’s Play House, numerous festivals, and many outdoor activities.  My husband and I enjoy music and attending concerts.  We also enjoy traveling, which has become a little more challenging with a toddler in tow. We are huge fans of our nieces’ volleyball teams and we can often be found cheering in crowd (Go Stags!). Professionally, my interests are resident and medical student education. I am a Pediatric Hospitalist and Sedation Medicine physician and I enjoy that variety of clinical care aspects that these two roles entail.
Why I Chose Peoria
My husband and I are both originally from the central Illinois area but we lived in Chicago for a number of years.  We enjoy now being able to live close to family and the ease of the Peoria community for raising our family, working, and lifestyle in general.  The career opportunities and the medical community here is tremendous.  My work colleagues are like my second family.  I am so happy that I have been able to work in and give back to the community that I grew up in.

About Me
Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and two toddlers (Elodie and Emeric). I am originally from Michigan and love to spend as much time as I can on Lake Michigan in the summers.  In my free time, I love to teach yoga, read any best seller I can get my hands on, and going wine tasting.
Why I Chose Peoria
It felt like a program where I could be my best self. I knew I would see the pathology I needed to in order to solidify my knowledge base in a close family setting of residents and teachers.   They cared about me as a person, not just as a resident.
